2020 Summer Update 2.0

Dear Friends…

We promised an update as soon as we had one.  We are pleased that our Governor announced on June 5 a relaxation of restrictions on tourism.  Beginning Monday, June 8th we are allowed to rent rooms to out of state guests based on where they are traveling from (click here for map).  On June 15th there will be a further reduction of restrictions, though with some requirements if traveling from an area where COVID-19 is still high (click here for more info). We are allowed to rent up to 50% of our rooms (7 rooms for now) and have up to 10 people in the dining room (tables 6’ apart).  We are going to make some changes to how we handle check-ins, how breakfast and afternoon cookies are served, etc., but we are excited to be able to say “we look forward to welcoming you to your home-away-from-home”!  YEAH!

Alexis finished school on June 4th and she is now an official Junior.   We learned this week that her Driver’s Ed Class is still on with remote classes though the actual driving lessons haven’t been arranged yet for the 80+ students that are signed up!

Now for the hard part of this update.  In the short time since we sent our recent newsletter, our world has become so much more divisive.  It is so difficult to watch the news and see the heartbreak, the riots around the country, and the continued mistreatment of our fellow human beings.  With all our hearts, we are praying for positive outcomes from the turmoil.  Most importantly, we are praying for justice for those who have been ignored, marginalized, and treated as though they are less worthy than other people in our society.  Our greatest hope is that real change can come from this painful period.  We truly believe that “United We Stand”, we are praying for everyone’s safety and we are praying for peace.

With kind and loving regards,
